Stacey
Stacey is mother to Spencer age 5 and Sydney age
3. She is an organic fruit and vegetable gardener
who grows 90% of her families produce intake June
- October. She is a member of the North East
Organic Farming Association (NOFA) and recently
completed the Master Gardener Program through
Cornell Cooperative Extension.
She spent ten years working for the Oswego County
Opportunities Head Start program where she learned
the struggles families in poverty are facing.
With processed foods appearing cheaper and the
rising prices of fresh fruits and vegetables, she
is concerned that affordable healthy food is
becoming out of reach for working poor families.
Stacey is MOMS-INC Manufacturer Liason and
Treasurer. She holds an A.A.S. degree from Paul
Smiths College in Hotel and Restaurant Management
and is pursuing her B.S. in Health and Wellness
Education through SUNY Empire State College.
Her future goals include incorporating gardens
into school wellness programs which would give
schools and communities more access to affordable
healthy foods. As well as, implementing exercise
programs that all children can participate in such
as karate, yoga, walking clubs.
